🌸 Join Us for a Magical Day at the Cotswolds Lavender Farm! 🌸
📅 Date: 26th July
🕘 Time: 09:00 – 17:00
📍 Meeting Point: Station Street behind New Street (opposite the Comfort Inn Hotel)
Lavender has been grown here for the last 25 years and it loves the free draining limestone soils. From this we produce the highest quality lavender essential oils. We have over 35 different varieties of lavender covering approximately 45 acres of the farm. The acreage of commercial lavender has reduced slightly over the last two years. This is due to some plants coming to the end of their productivity and fields need a break period before they can be replanted with lavender. The public display fields of lavender and wildflowers remain as wonderful as ever.
We have farmed land around Snowshill for the last 60 years growing a range of crops. Lavender was first planted in 1999. From just a few hundred plants put in by hand, we now have 45 acres of lavender, some 250,000 plants and 60 miles of rows.
At almost 1000 feet above sea level our climate is well suited to lavender growing.
Not just lavender, we also grow wheat, barley and other crops which also suit our soils.
Snowshill, charmingly set with the Cotswold hills rising steeply around the village on three sides, is known for its exceptional unspoilt beauty and for the views over the Severn Vale to the west. An ancient road called Buckle Street crosses the parish and Snowshill Manor, owned by the National Trust, is a beautiful building in Snowshill with picturesque gardens outside and inside the amazing and eclectic collections of Sir Charles Wade: toys, musical instruments, clocks, bicycles, samurai armour and more. The beautiful cottage garden is a lively mix of architectural features, bright colours and delightful scents.
